BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT (BScT)
The Bachelor of Science in Tourism and Hospitality Management is a three year program. It is designed to enable participants to know how to manage various sub-sectors in the tourism industry especially hotel, food, beverage and tour and travel management. They will also be able to embark on a long term professional career in hospitality and tourism that will connect them to a global professional network. It will facilitate students to master skills required in managing the whole service management process in hospitality and tourism. Competency could be defined as the capability of a person [or an organization] to reach specific achievements. This program will attempt to create opportunities for students to relate closely to the world of experience in a meaningful learning environment where the learner can develop integrated, performance-oriented capabilities for handling the core problems in tourism management practice. This is very much in keeping with Tanzania’s Development Vision 2025 which envisions Tanzania to be a “nation with high level of education at all levels, with both quality and quantity of educated people, sufficiently equipped with requisite knowledge and skills to solve society’s problems, meet the challenges of development and attain competitiveness at regional and global levels.”
CERTIFICATE IN TOURISM ENTERPRISE MANAGEMENT
This is a one year program which focuses on equipping individuals or professionals who are already working in the industry with knowledge of how to manage tourism enterprises. This program is also available for local communities participating in tourism enterprises, government officials, NGOs, FBOs and CBOs with other qualifications. The courses are designed to prepare the student to run and enhance the business skill needed in a tourism enterprise.
CERTIFICATE IN HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT (proposed)
This certificate program aims to meet the demand of practical and technical skills needed in the hospitality industry. It focuses on preparing students to be service oriented in order to charter the demand for service from both national and international customers.
This program is designed for one year with two semesters. The participants should fulfill and attend all the meeting in this one year, including the 14-days excursion program. Each semester the participants are required to take 5 to 6 courses.
