Title: Contribution of wildlife tourism to community development: a case study of Longido District
The purpose of this study is to examine the wildlife tourism’s contribution to community development in Tanzania, with a case of Longido District. The study was conducted at Longido. The study shows the history of wildlife tourism activities and how the community as one of the stakeholders in the area will benefit. This research is guided by following specific objectives: to identify wildlife tourism activities taking place in Longido District, to identify the benefits gained by community from wildlife tourism and lastly to find out if wildlife tourism has been succeeding in promoting community development. The study used qualitative and quantitative approaches and used survey in collection of the data from various respondents. The findings from the respondents shows the benefits acquired from wildlife tourism, which are increase number of tourists, competition of businesses leading to quality of products and services, employment, increase trade linkage and education.
